A Trip To Little India, Singapore

Visiting Little India is always an experience. This time round I was getting tickets to the Utsav Street Parade (http://littleindia.com.sg/) for the family. I was originally under the impression that there were fireworks to be witnessed today, but unfortunately it seems that spectacle was reserved for the grand finale of the parade itself.

Despite that, I had my camera at hand. And this is what happened…

You can’t blame gravity for falling in love.

—Albert Einstein

The higher you build walls around your heart, the harder you fall when someone tears them down.

Don’t you be so nice to me; I fall in love so easily.

—Waylon Jennings

Nobody is perfect until you fall in love with them.

She wasn’t exactly sure when it happened. Or even when it started. All she knew for sure was that right here and now, she was falling hard and she could only pray that he was feeling the same way.

—Nicholas Sparks

In life, you have to take the pace that love goes. You don’t force it. You just don’t force love, you don’t force falling in love, you don’t force being in love – you just become. I don’t know how to say that in English…

What Makes Someone Sexy?

Life in the Boomer Lane

Switzerland, the picture-postcard home of Heidi and about $1.5 trillion dollars worth of untraceable bank accounts, has learned how to survive in a state of neutral, monetary bliss. The Swiss can then go about the business of banking and doing research into what makes people sexy.

According to the UK Telegraph, scientists in Geneva have discovered that determining whether we are attracted to someone is one of the most complex tasks that the brain undertakes, possibly second to trying to get out of a speeding ticket.

So, what are the traits that determine if you are considered sexy?

Any child who has played with Mr Potato head would agree that it is helpful to have a face that has two sides. Even better if the sides are relatively matched.  As UK Telegraph points out,” Facial symmetry is also linked to agreeableness, extroversion and conscientiousness, so good-looking people…

Review: Hand Painted Photos from Pixelist

Photofocus (old site)

Not long ago, someone from Pixelest reached out to see if I would try out and review one of their products, a hand-painted oil painting created from one of my photos. I don’t do a lot of reviews, but when I went to their website I have to say I was intrigued! What a unique way to “print” a photograph. So I said yes, and sent them a photo I took of my dog, Kodak.

In about three weeks, I received an email from them saying that the painting was finished. They included a photo of it and asked if there was anything that needed to be changed or adjusted. It looked good, so they put it in the mail and sent it to me in Portland. They ship from China, and they estimated about two weeks delivery time.

When I got it, I was floored. It looked almost identical to my photograph…

Some Truths About Lies

Blatant Lies

See this?

When I studied Art History I first became exposed to the term “provenance”. Provenance in Art is like the CV of an art work. It documents its movements, relocations and history of ownership, since it left the artist’s studio and made its way to the wall of the museum or the private collection that it’s now part of. Toys have a similar tendency to migrate but their provenance is usually undocumented and sometimes even unknown. I have no idea how, when and under which circumstances the pointy finger showed up at our household. I also had no idea that my five-year-old could lie so fluidly and with such ease when upon unearthing the object, which was naturally lying on what will be our backyard grass once spring finally commits, he explained to two of our neighbours:

“This is a pointy finger, and my mom uses it when she…
